IndiGo boosts India-Sri Lanka air connectivity

Colombo

Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to India, Mahishini Colonne, celebrated stronger air links as IndiGo launched six weekly flights between Delhi and Colombo starting March 29. This adds to existing services by SriLankan Airlines and Air India, bringing nearly 27 weekly flights. The expansion reflects growing India-Sri Lanka connectivity, covering air, maritime, trade, energy, and digital links. Key initiatives include ferry services between Nagapattinam and Kankesanthurai, Chennai-Jaffna flights, and UPI QR payments. Plans for an Economic Land Corridor, cross-border pipelines, and power grid connections are underway, highlighting the nations’ focus on people-to-people and economic partnership.
