A grand religious festival along with the golden jubilee celebration of a historic chariot procession will be held in Sudi village of Gadag district from May 6 to May 10, bringing together spiritual leaders, devotees, and cultural performers for a five-day event filled with religious, social, and cultural activities.

The festival is being organized at the Sudi Juktimath under the guidance of religious head Dr. Kottur Basaveshwara Shivacharya. The event marks the 50th year of the chariot festival and will also witness the inauguration of a newly constructed chariot. Organizers stated that this celebration is aimed at preserving and promoting the traditions and values of the Veerashaiva faith while strengthening community participation.
Preparations for the festival are already underway, with a preliminary meeting held in the presence of several prominent community leaders and organizers. The organizers emphasized that this is a rare occasion as multiple revered spiritual leaders associated with the Panch Peetha tradition will participate in the celebrations, making it a significant spiritual gathering after many years.
The five-day program will include a variety of events catering to different sections of society. On May 6, free health check-up camps, including eye examinations and blood donation drives, will be conducted. Cultural programs, including theatrical performances, will also be held in the evening. On May 7, sessions focusing on agriculture development, environmental awareness, and sustainable practices will take place, followed by folk dance performances by local artists.
On May 8, special programs dedicated to women’s empowerment and awareness will be organized, highlighting their role in society and family well-being. Traditional cultural performances will also be staged in the evening. On May 9, youth-oriented programs will focus on motivation, awareness, and skill development, encouraging positive social engagement.
The main highlight of the festival will take place on May 10, when the grand chariot procession will be held in the morning, followed by a religious assembly and the formal inauguration of the new chariot. The celebrations will conclude with a cultural program in the evening.
Organizers have invited devotees and the general public to actively participate in all events, making the festival a grand success and a memorable spiritual experience for the entire region.
