Koppal
The Assistant Director of Agriculture in Koppal has issued an advisory urging farmers not to sow cotton crops during the summer season, citing risks of pest attacks, diseases, and reduced crop productivity. According to the agriculture department, cotton is a major crop grown in Koppal taluk during the monsoon season and requires specific climatic conditions for optimal growth. Officials stated that as per the recommendations of the Agricultural University, Bt cotton should ideally be sown between May and July 15, with the most suitable period being before June 15. The advisory warned that sowing Bt cotton during the months of March and April could lead to serious agricultural issues. Crops sown prematurely are more vulnerable to pest infestations, diseases, and unfavorable environmental conditions, which can significantly hinder plant growth and ultimately result in crop loss.
