Woman Seriously Injured in House Fire in Dharwad; Cause Under Investigation

Slug: Dharwad House Fire

Dharwad

A major fire broke out at a house in Tadakoda village of Dharwad taluk, leaving a woman seriously injured and raising concerns over the possible cause of the incident. According to reports, the fire erupted, causing panic in the residential area. Poornima Hadimani, aged 35, sustained severe burn injuries in the incident and was immediately shifted to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi for advanced medical treatment. Her condition is reported to be critical.

Her husband, Kallappa Hadimani, also suffered minor burn injuries while attempting to extinguish the flames and rescue his wife. Local residents reportedly rushed to the spot upon noticing the fire and assisted in controlling the situation before emergency services arrived.

Preliminary information suggests that around five litres of petrol had been stored inside the house. It is believed that the fuel was procured due to concerns over a potential rise in petrol prices and possible shortages amid ongoing global tensions. The presence of petrol in the house is being considered as a possible factor that may have intensified the fire.

However, family members have stated that the fire may have been caused by a gas leak, indicating another possible source of the blaze. Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause, and multiple angles are being examined as part of the investigation.

Officials, including the Dharwad Tahsildar and personnel from the Garaga police station, visited the site soon after the incident. A case has been registered, and a detailed inquiry is currently underway to determine the precise cause of the fire.

The incident has raised concerns about the storage of flammable materials in residential areas and the importance of safety precautions. Authorities are expected to issue guidelines to prevent such incidents in the future as the investigation continues.
