Water Crisis Triggers Road Blockade Protest

Hubballi

With the onset of summer, residents of Hubballi are facing an acute shortage of drinking water, prompting locals in Ward No. 55 to stage a road blockade protest against the authorities.
The water crisis in Hubballi has intensified as temperatures rise, leaving many areas struggling to access basic drinking water. In Ward No. 55 of the municipal corporation, particularly in Diddy Lane of Old Hubballi, residents have reportedly not received a proper water supply for nearly 20 days. Frustrated by the continued neglect, locals took to the streets in protest.

In a symbolic demonstration of their plight, residents placed water pots in the middle of the road and blocked traffic, demanding immediate action from the concerned authorities. The protest caused temporary disruption in the area, drawing attention to the severity of the issue.

Residents alleged that officials associated with L&T, operating under the municipal corporation, have failed to address their concerns effectively. When questioned about the lack of water supply, the staff reportedly cited a burst pipeline as the reason. However, locals dismissed this explanation as an excuse, accusing authorities of negligence and delay in resolving the issue.

The situation has led to growing anger among the public, who are struggling to manage daily needs without access to safe drinking water. Many residents expressed that the prolonged disruption has severely impacted their households, forcing them to depend on alternative and often inadequate sources of water.

Citizens have urged the municipal corporation commissioner to take strict action against the responsible officials and ensure that water supply is restored without further delay. They emphasized that timely supply of water is essential, especially during the summer months when demand is significantly higher.

The protest highlights the urgent need for efficient water management and accountability among civic authorities. Residents warned that if the issue is not resolved soon, they may intensify their agitation in the coming days.
