Rising incidents of stray dog attacks in Huloli Hatti village of Hukkeri taluk have created panic among residents, with one man critically injured and currently in a coma.
The growing menace of stray dogs in Huloli Hatti village has become a serious concern for villagers, as repeated attacks have left several people injured. In the latest incident, Basavaraj Hebbali sustained severe injuries after being attacked by a group of stray dogs. His condition is reported to be critical, and he is currently undergoing treatment at BIMS Hospital in Belagavi.
According to reports, the attack occurred recently when Basavaraj was moving through the village, and stray dogs suddenly turned aggressive. He suffered multiple injuries during the incident and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Doctors are closely monitoring his condition, and he is said to be in a coma.
This is not an isolated incident. Just a few days prior, an 18-year-old was also attacked by stray dogs in a similar manner, highlighting the increasing frequency and severity of such cases. These repeated incidents have triggered fear among villagers, especially among children and elderly residents who feel unsafe stepping out of their homes.
Residents have expressed strong anger against the gram panchayat officials, accusing them of failing to take necessary measures to control the stray dog population. Despite multiple complaints and requests, villagers claim that no effective action has been taken so far.
The situation has led to growing frustration, with locals demanding immediate intervention from authorities. They have urged officials to initiate measures such as sterilization drives, vaccination, and relocation of aggressive dogs to prevent further attacks.
The incidents have underscored the urgent need for a coordinated response to address the stray dog issue. Villagers have warned that if the problem is not addressed soon, they may be forced to stage protests to draw attention to their plight.
Authorities are yet to respond with concrete measures, even as fear and tension continue to grip the village.
