Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Monday filed his nomination from the Kolathur constituency, aiming for a fourth consecutive term in the Assembly elections.
The nomination process has begun across all 234 constituencies, marking an important stage ahead of polling scheduled on April 23. Election officials have set up centres in every constituency with tight security to ensure smooth proceedings.
Stalin submitted his nomination papers at the designated office on Paper Mills Road before Returning Officer S. Shanthi. Senior leaders, including Minister Sekhar Babu, were present during the filing. The event drew large crowds, with party workers and supporters gathering in huge numbers.
After filing his nomination, Stalin expressed strong confidence in the victory of the DMK-led alliance. He said the people of Tamil Nadu would once again support his government and its policies. He also stated that the alliance is expected to win more than 200 seats in the elections.
Following the filing, Stalin held a roadshow in an open vehicle across key parts of the constituency. Supporters lined the streets, waving party flags and cheering as he passed through, turning the event into a major show of strength.
He also released a booklet highlighting development works and welfare schemes carried out in Kolathur during his tenure. The publication aimed to showcase the achievements of the government and strengthen voter support.
With election activities gaining pace, political parties have intensified campaigns across the state. The upcoming polls are expected to witness strong competition, with major parties making efforts to secure voter confidence and gain a decisive mandate in Tamil Nadu.
