In a major step against Left-Wing Extremism, senior Maoist leader Chelluri Narayana Rao, also known as Suresh, surrendered before Andhra Pradesh Police on Monday along with eight other cadres. Rao was a Central Committee Member and served for nearly 36 years in CPI (Maoist). Police said the group carried a total bounty of Rs 66 lakh and surrendered five weapons, including an AK-47 and INSAS rifle. Officials called it a significant success in anti-Naxal operations.
