Shirahatti

The Shirahatti Town Panchayat has announced revised property tax rates for the financial year 2026–27, urging property owners to ensure timely payments and take advantage of available rebates.
According to an official release issued by the Department of Information and Public Relations, the revised tax structure applies to all properties within the jurisdiction of the Shirahatti Town Panchayat. The new rates have been introduced as part of the annual revision process to strengthen civic administration and improve basic infrastructure in the town.

As per the notification, open plots will be taxed at a rate of 3 percent, while residential buildings will attract a tax rate of 4 percent. Commercial and industrial properties will be subject to a higher rate of 5 percent. Authorities stated that these revised rates are aligned with regulatory guidelines and are necessary to meet the increasing financial requirements for urban development and maintenance of public services.

To encourage prompt payment, the town panchayat has announced a 5 percent rebate for taxpayers who clear their dues between April 1 and April 30. Additionally, payments made between May 1 and June 30 will not attract any penalties, offering a grace period for property owners to fulfill their obligations without financial burden.

However, officials have warned that delays beyond June 30 will result in penalties. From July 1 onwards, a penalty of 2 percent per month will be imposed on unpaid taxes until the full amount is settled. The authorities emphasized that timely payment is essential for ensuring the smooth functioning of civic services such as sanitation, road maintenance, and other public amenities.

The Shirahatti Town Panchayat has appealed to all residents and property owners to cooperate by paying their taxes within the stipulated timeframe. Officials noted that property tax revenue is a key source of funding for developmental activities and plays a vital role in enhancing the overall quality of life in the town.
