According to an official statement released by the Department of Information and Public Relations, the revised tax structure applies to various categories of properties within the Nargund municipal limits. The updated rates have been finalized as part of the annual revision process aimed at improving civic infrastructure and public services.

As per the notification, open plots will be taxed at a rate of 4 percent, while residential buildings will also attract a tax rate of 4 percent. Commercial and industrial properties, on the other hand, will be subject to a slightly higher tax rate of 5 percent. Authorities stated that these revisions are in line with existing regulations and are necessary to meet the growing demands of urban development.

To encourage early payment, the municipal body has introduced incentives for taxpayers. Property owners who pay their taxes between April 1 and April 30 will be eligible for a 5 percent rebate. Those who make payments between May 1 and June 30 will not incur any penalties, offering an additional grace period for compliance.

However, officials have cautioned that delays beyond this period will attract penalties. Starting from July 1, a penalty of 2 percent per month will be imposed on outstanding dues until full payment is made. The administration has emphasized that timely payment of property taxes is essential for the effective functioning of civic services, including maintenance of roads, sanitation, and public amenities.

Municipal authorities have appealed to residents, property owners, and stakeholders to cooperate by paying their taxes within the stipulated timeframe. They highlighted that the revenue generated from property taxes plays a vital role in the overall development of the town and in enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
