Vijayapura
Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated with devotion and awareness programs in Vijayapura, with officials emphasizing the relevance of non-violence and ethical living in modern society.
The event was organized at Kandagal Shri Hanumantharaya Ranga Mandir under the joint aegis of the district administration, Zilla Panchayat, and the Department of Kannada and Culture. Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ozaram inaugurated the program by offering floral tributes to Mahavira.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ozaram described Mahavir as a great spiritual leader whose teachings have made a lasting contribution to society. He emphasized that Mahavir’s principles of truth and non-violence are timeless and must be adopted, especially by the younger generation, to lead a meaningful and ethical life.
He noted that Mahavir’s philosophy encourages individuals to follow the path of peace, sacrifice, and detachment. His teachings, rooted in non-violence and compassion, provide guidance for achieving inner peace and social harmony. He also highlighted that Mahavir’s message of live and let live remains crucial in today’s world.
Speakers at the event elaborated on Mahavir’s life, explaining how he renounced worldly comforts in pursuit of truth and enlightenment. His teachings of non-violence, truth, non-stealing, celibacy, and non-possessiveness were emphasized as fundamental values for building a just society.
A special lecture highlighted that adopting these principles leads individuals toward spiritual growth and liberation. The speakers stressed that understanding and practicing these ideals can help create a more peaceful and compassionate world.
The program also included participation from various officials, community leaders, and members of different organizations. Prior to the main event, a procession was held in the city, where participants paid tribute to Mahavir and spread awareness about his teachings.
