Inter-State Dacoit Gang Arrested, Gold and Cash Worth Rs 36 Lakh Seized

In a major breakthrough, the Harugeri police in Belagavi district have arrested a gang of inter-state dacoits and seized gold ornaments and cash worth over Rs 36 lakh. The operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs during the investigation of a house burglary case.

According to police officials, the gang was originally based in Maharashtra and had been involved in multiple dacoity cases across Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa. The Harugeri police received crucial leads while probing a burglary case within their jurisdiction, which helped them track the movements of the suspects.

Acting swiftly on the information, the police intercepted the gang while they were reportedly on their way to Goa, allegedly planning to visit a casino. In a well-coordinated operation, officers managed to apprehend all seven members of the gang and recover stolen valuables, including gold ornaments and cash worth approximately Rs 36.11 lakh.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ravi Shinde, Sunil Pawar, Shankar Jadhav, Dilip Shinde, Kishore More, Vinod Shinde, and Mithun Jadhav. Police sources revealed that the accused had been hiding in a settlement in Jalna district of Maharashtra before attempting to move towards Goa.

Investigators further disclosed that the gang has links to several serious criminal cases, including dacoity and murder, across multiple states. One of the arrested individuals is reportedly wanted in connection with a murder and dacoity case in Maharashtra.

Officials stated that the arrest was carried out after a high-speed chase, described as cinematic due to its intensity and precision. The successful operation highlights the coordination and efficiency of the police in tackling organized crime.

Further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the gang’s activities and identify any additional accomplices. Authorities are also working to link the seized valuables to unsolved cases in different states.
