Vijay’s Jana Nayagan Release Likely Delayed To Mid 2026

Actor Vijay’s much-awaited film Jana Nayagan is likely to face further delays, with reports suggesting a new release window in June or July 2026. The film, directed by H. Vinoth, was initially scheduled to hit theatres on January 9, 2026, but could not meet the date due to pending certification from the Central Board of Film Certification.

The delay caused by censor issues has affected the film’s overall release plan. Although the certification process is expected to be completed soon, the makers are waiting for official approval before confirming a new date. In addition, the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections have also influenced scheduling decisions, forcing the team to reconsider earlier plans of a May release.

Industry reports indicate that Jana Nayagan may now release after Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash, which is set to arrive on June 4, 2026. Both films are backed by KVN Productions, which has a packed release lineup. Another project, KD: The Devil starring Dhruva Sarja, is scheduled for April 30, 2026.

There are also concerns regarding the film’s OTT deal, with reports suggesting that the streaming partner may have withdrawn due to repeated delays. This has added pressure on the producers, as financial and distribution plans may need revision.

Jana Nayagan, believed to be Vijay’s final film, has generated high expectations. The story follows a former police officer who raises a young girl to become strong and independent. The film features a cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Prakash Raj.
