Jothimani slams Cong over seat selection transparency issues

Chennai

Congress MP S Jothimani has raised serious concerns over the party’s seat selection process in Tamil Nadu, alleging a complete lack of transparency in the ongoing alliance arrangements for the April 23 Assembly elections.

In a strongly worded social media post on March 27, Jothimani claimed that decisions on constituency allocation under the DMK-led alliance were made without proper discussion. She said her demand for a transparent and consultative approach was ignored by those handling the process.

Her remarks come at a crucial time when major political parties such as the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam are finalising their strategies. At the same time, new entrants like Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, led by actor Vijay, are also gaining attention ahead of the elections.

Jothimani accused the state leadership of handling seat-sharing talks in a “highly secretive manner,” sidelining the need for open discussions. She expressed disappointment over what she described as the neglect of grassroots workers, stating that loyal party members who had worked for years were being overlooked.

“It is painful to see the hard work of dedicated Congress volunteers being compromised by those who have contributed very little to the party’s growth in Tamil Nadu,” she said.

Issuing a strong warning, the MP cautioned that if such an approach continues, it could severely harm the party’s prospects in the state. She also made it clear that she would not remain silent on the issue and would release a detailed statement after the official list of constituencies and candidates is announced.
