With local body elections approaching, Rural MLA and JDS Legislature Party Deputy Leader Sharada Parayanaik has called on party workers and leaders to gear up from now itself. She spoke after inaugurating a meeting of rural workers at the JDS office in Shivamogga.
Parayanaik said that elections for Gram Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat, and Zilla Panchayat are expected after September. She urged party members not to worry about reservation issues but to focus on strengthening local bodies. “This is the time to forget differences and work together for the party,” she said.
She admitted that the party lost several seats in previous elections due to internal mistakes. Stressing the need for self-reflection, she said personal differences and ego should not affect election performance. “We must support whoever gets the party ticket and work unitedly for victory,” she added.
The MLA also spoke about her efforts in raising issues related to rural development in the Assembly and seeking grants. She expressed concern that the ruling government has not responded adequately, which could affect development works. Despite this, she assured that she has worked sincerely for the welfare of her constituency.
Former MLA K.B. Prasannakumar, District President Ramakrishna, Women’s Wing President Geeta Satish, and several party leaders and workers attended the meeting. The gathering highlighted the importance of unity, discipline, and early preparation for the upcoming elections.
