Former Indian diplomat Veena Sikri said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is widely respected across the world for his ability to engage with leaders from different political backgrounds. Speaking about the ongoing tensions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, she noted that Modi has maintained communication with all sides.
Sikri said that the Prime Minister has spoken to leaders of Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States during the crisis. She added that his approach of maintaining dialogue with multiple stakeholders has earned him strong global regard and support.
Commenting on recent remarks by Donald Trump, Sikri said Iran continues to deny any formal talks with the United States. However, she mentioned that there are speculations about messages being exchanged through Pakistan. She clarified that Pakistan is not acting as a mediator but may be passing messages between the two sides. According to her, Iran has rejected a reported 15-point plan from the US, stating it has its own approach.
Foreign affairs expert Robinder Sachdev said Trump values strong leadership and quick decisions. He noted that Trump sees similar qualities in Modi, who takes firm steps and ensures implementation.
Sachdev added that Trump expects favorable trade deals, increased energy purchases from the US, and balanced sourcing from countries like Russia. Meanwhile, a shipment of 47,000 metric tonnes of LPG arrived at Vadinar Terminal in Gujarat, marking continued energy cooperation efforts.
