Gas shortage forces hotel to use firewood for cooking

VIJAYAPURA

The continuing shortage of LPG cylinders in Vijayapura district has begun to severely impact daily life, particularly for small businesses and eateries that depend on gas for cooking.

At Annadaneshwari Hotel located near Barakaman in the city, the owner has been forced to switch to traditional firewood for preparing food due to the unavailability of LPG cylinders. The situation highlights the growing difficulties faced by small hotel operators amid the ongoing supply constraints.

Speaking to reporters, the hotel owner said she had made repeated attempts to obtain a gas cylinder from the local agency. However, she was informed that there is a shortage and that it may take time before supply is restored. “I tried a lot to get a cylinder, but the agency said it is difficult to provide one now. Since I cannot stop serving my customers, I have no option but to use firewood for cooking,” she explained. The shortage has not only increased operational challenges but also added to costs and effort, as cooking with firewood is more time-consuming and less efficient. Residents and business owners are urging authorities to address the issue at the earliest to restore normalcy.
