Kalaburagi
Auto drivers in Kalaburagi staged a protest on Saturday against the continuous rise in auto gas prices, expressing strong resentment over the frequent hikes that are affecting their daily earnings. The protest took place in front of the District Collector’s Office, where drivers blocked the road for some time, causing brief disruption to traffic.
The agitating drivers raised slogans against the authorities and demanded immediate intervention from the state government to control the escalating prices. They alleged that the prices of auto gas are being increased almost on a daily basis, making it difficult for them to sustain their livelihood. Many drivers stated that their income has drastically reduced, while expenses continue to rise.
The protesters further claimed that auto gas pump owners are arbitrarily increasing prices without proper regulation or transparency, adding to their burden. Due to this situation, several auto drivers said their families are facing financial hardship and struggling to meet basic needs. Local legislators have also taken note of the issue and urged the government to step in without delay. They have called for strict regulation of gas prices and immediate measures to reduce the burden on auto drivers, ensuring relief to thousands dependent on the sector.
