In a thrilling display of skill and determination, the Andhra Pradesh Women’s Team has been crowned the champions of the 7th IDCA Women’s T-10 National Cricket Championship for the Deaf. The final, held on Friday, saw a nail-biting finish as they narrowly defeated Delhi by just five runs.

Batting first, Andhra Pradesh put up a solid score of 73 runs in their allotted ten overs. Delhi fought hard until the very last ball, but they fell just short, finishing their innings at 68. The victory was a testament to the incredible talent within the deaf cricketing community, proving that passion for the game knows no barriers.

The star of the show was undoubtedly D. Kanthamma from Andhra Pradesh. Her dominant performance earned her a hat-trick of honors, including Woman of the Match in the final, Best Batswoman of the Series, and the prestigious Player of the Series award. On the bowling side, Uttar Pradesh’s Priya Dixit was recognized as the tournament’s best bowler.

Former Indian cricketer Gursharan Singh joined several sports officials to present the trophy during a moving closing ceremony. IDCA President Sumit Jain praised the athletes for their “exceptional talent” and thanked supporters like Cyrus Poonawalla for making the event a grand success. Hosted by the Haryana Deaf Cricket Association, this championship has set a new benchmark for inclusive sports in India, inspiring more women to pursue cricket as a professional career.
