Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that health must not be left at the mercy of geopolitics, energy blockades, or power outages, highlighting Cuba’s struggling healthcare system. Hospitals face energy shortages affecting surgeries, emergency care, and vaccine storage, putting patients at risk. Ghebreyesus praised Cuba’s efforts to restore power but stressed continued support is essential. Meanwhile, the first humanitarian aid boat, carrying food, medicine, and solar panels, arrived in Havana from Mexico to assist amid a US energy blockade. The convoy, part of “Nuestra America,” aims to help sustain critical health services.
