Blurb: Residents of Bobbekeri on the Kaunjangadu-Kaduru state highway can finally breathe easy after years of hardship, as authorities have approved funds for concrete widening of the narrow stretch.
Bantwal:
The narrow stretch of the interstate state highway at Bobbekeri in Bantwal taluk has received Rs 60 lakh for concrete development, bringing relief to a problem that had persisted for several years.
The road lacked sufficient width, which prevented proper drainage during rains and made it impossible to expand because private farmland bordered both sides. This situation had led to frequent vehicle accidents and left no space for pedestrians to walk safely along the roadside.
Local MLA Ashok Rai had visited the spot a few days ago following public complaints. He inspected the area along with engineers from the Public Works Department and held discussions on widening the road.
The legislator also spoke directly with the owners of the adjacent private lands. He assured everyone that funds would be secured for the improvement and appealed to all parties not to obstruct the development work. The recent sanction of Rs 60 lakh for road widening and concreting has fulfilled a long-standing demand and shown that the MLA kept his word.
Ashok Rai stated that the narrow road had created major difficulties, including vehicle mishaps and unsafe conditions for school children who had no space to walk on the roadside. He mentioned that he had negotiated with the private landowners and made it clear that road construction would proceed regardless. The work aims to benefit the public and vehicle owners by improving safety and convenience in the area.
