In a shocking and gruesome incident that has sent shockwaves across the district, a man allegedly murdered his wife by slitting her throat in the middle of a public road near Ballurgi village in Afzalpur taluk of Kalaburagi district on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Saanvi (28), a native of Maharashtra. The accused, her husband Akshay, is said to have carried out the brutal act in full public view, raising serious concerns about public safety and bystander response in such critical situations.
According to preliminary information, Akshay brought his wife in an Ertiga car to a deserted stretch near Ballurgi village. Upon reaching the spot, he reportedly forced her out of the vehicle. What followed was a horrifying sequence of events, as he allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon and slit her throat, leading to her death on the spot.
Eyewitnesses present in the vicinity were left stunned by the sudden and violent act. Several locals reportedly captured the incident on their mobile phones. However, it is being alleged that no one intervened immediately to stop the attack or rescue the victim, which has sparked outrage and debate over public apathy during emergencies. The disturbing visuals have since surfaced on social media, drawing widespread condemnation.
Police sources said that the motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, and all angles, including possible domestic disputes, are being investigated. The Afzalpur Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and have taken the accused into custody for further questioning.
