Russia has urged an immediate halt to fighting in the Persian Gulf, warning of rising regional instability
Moscow
Russia has expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in the Persian Gulf, calling for an immediate end to hostilities. In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry described the situation as unprovoked aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran. It warned that continued fighting could worsen damage to energy facilities and other key infrastructure across Iran and neighbouring Arab countries.
Moscow stressed that stopping military actions by Washington and Tel Aviv is essential for any progress toward peace. It said an immediate ceasefire would be the first step to reduce tensions and prevent further escalation in the region.
Russia also offered to work with global and regional partners to find a diplomatic solution. It said countries like China and Turkiye could help support peace efforts through dialogue and cooperation. The ministry highlighted the need for long-term stability based on mutual respect and balanced interests of all nations involved.
The statement also referred to a proposal by Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, which called for inclusive regional dialogue. Russia said the proposal matches its own vision of building a security framework in the Middle East based on cooperation and trust.
The conflict began on February 28 with a joint US-Israel air campaign and has since expanded across the region. Increasing military activity and attacks on energy hubs have raised fears of a wider global crisis.
