The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will operate around 2,000 additional buses across the state to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming festival holidays.

With Ugadi falling on March 19 and Eid al-Fitr likely to be celebrated on March 20 or 21, the transport corporation has planned special services on March 18, 19 and 20 to accommodate travellers heading to their hometowns.

Most of the additional buses will operate from the Kempegowda Bus Station at Majestic to major destinations across Karnataka and neighbouring states. Key routes include Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapur, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davanagere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppal, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Hyderabad.

Additional services will also depart from the Mysuru Road Bus Station towards Mysuru, Hunsur, Periyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar and Madikeri to cater to passengers travelling to the southern parts of the state.

KSRTC officials said passengers are encouraged to book tickets in advance through the corporation’s official website or at reservation counters across Karnataka and neighbouring states.

To promote group travel, the corporation is offering a five per cent discount for bookings of four or more passengers on a single ticket. Additionally, travellers booking onward and return tickets together can avail a 10 per cent discount on the return journey.
