H.M. Revanna urged journalists to practice responsible reporting, avoiding personal attacks, while Shivananda Tagadur praised constructing a journalists’ house in Magadi as a positive initiative

MLA H. C. Balakrishna said journalists play an important role in highlighting development work and creating awareness among the public.
He was speaking at a gathering of journalists and the inauguration of office-bearers of the Taluk Working Journalists Association held at Balaji Banquet Hall in Magadi on Sunday. The event also included the presentation of the Kempegowda Award and Negila Yogi Award to achievers.
Balakrishna said discussions about development bring greater responsibility for public representatives. He noted that journalists help keep leaders alert by reporting issues and informing the public about daily activities and governance. He added that every individual chooses different professions to build their lives and all fields deserve respect.
During the event, H. M. Revanna said journalists should focus on responsible reporting and avoid spreading news based on personal insults. He said thoughtful reporting can send positive messages to society.
Shivananda Tagadur, State President of the Karnataka Working Journalists Association, said the construction of a journalists’ house in Magadi was a positive step. He appreciated the efforts of local leaders and association members.
TV5 Chief Ramakant Arya, who received the Kempegowda Award, said journalists must stay committed to truth and continue asking important questions. He added that many developments in society happen with the support and hard work of journalists.
During the programme, Ramakant Arya was honoured with the Kempegowda Award, while M. Aproj Khan and Abhishek received the Janapara Reporter Award.
Several journalists, social workers and public representatives attended the event.
