Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has informed that due to the war between America, Israel and Iran, we have taken the safety of Kannadigas residing in Middle Eastern countries including Israel, UAE, Iran and Qatar very seriously. In this regard, I have consulted with the Resident Commissioner of Delhi and asked him to take all necessary measures for their safety.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister appealed to those stranded in war-torn countries who are unable to return home due to the suspension of air traffic in Middle Eastern countries to move to safer places.
I have instructed the officials to start the helpline tomorrow itself. If family members residing in war-torn countries are unable to contact us, no one should worry. The safety of every Kannadigas is our priority and we are already working towards this end, he said.
The Chief Minister said that former minister Nagendra informed me about 32 people from Ballari who are stranded in Dubai and that steps are being taken for their safety.
Former Minister Nagendra requested Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over the phone to rescue tourists from Bellary who are stranded in Dubai. Responding to this request, the CM has assured to take action in this regard.
On February 24, 35 people from Bellary and 15 from Chitradurga had left for Dubai for a trip. They were supposed to return on February 28. But the flight was cancelled due to the war, so they returned to the hotel from the airport and are safe.
There is an atmosphere of fear. Money is also running out, and food is becoming a problem. They have not even slept properly due to the fear of war. Tourists have said that they have been instructed not to open windows or doors and not to come out of their homes for any reason. Therefore, Ramalingappa has appealed to Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to bring those who are there safely back to India.
