Lunar eclipse on Tuesday, temple darshan timings changed

The Lunar Eclipse 2026 will be visible on Tuesday before Ugadi. The shadow of the Sutaka will cover it 6 hours before the eclipse.

Due to the lunar eclipse, the timings of worship and darshan at Banashankari Temple have changed. There are no special worships for the eclipse. After the eclipse is over, daily worship will be held after 7 pm.

Gavi Gangadhar temple in Bengaluru will be closed at 9 am on that day and will open only after 7.45 pm. The head priest of Gavi Gangadhar, Somasundara Dikshitha, has warned that since the eclipse falls on the full moon day of Holi, terrible incidents like fire accidents may occur. Further, preparations have been made to conduct the Grahan Shanti Homa on March 4 for the welfare of the people in the temple.

 A poster regarding the eclipse has been pasted at Kadu Malleshwara Temple. The temple doors will be closed at 11 am on that day due to the lunar eclipse from 3.10 pm to 6.47 pm. The temple doors will be opened at 7.30 pm. The poster states that some specific zodiac signs should perform Shanti Homa after the eclipse. That is why the Navagraha Shanti Homa will be held at Kadu Malleshwara Temple the day after the eclipse. Devotees have been asked to donate rice and pulses on that day.

 the historic and famous Dodda Ganesh Temple in Bengaluru, will also change on Tuesday. The timings for the darshan of the deity have been changed due to the eclipse. Instead of 5.30 pm, the temple will open for devotees at 7.45 pm after the eclipse ends.

The famous temple Bande Mahakali Temple will be open on the day of the lunar eclipse. A special Homa and Puja will be held at the time of the eclipse. We have been following this tradition at the Bande Mahakali Temple since long. Therefore, devotees can also participate in the Chandrashanti Homa, said the Temple Board Secretary Shashi Kumar. Devotees are free to have darshan of the goddess. During the eclipse, Bande Mahakali amma is smeared with ghee. The next day, a Kumbhasnana is performed, he said.
