New Delhi
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is set to relocate from its historic British-era premises in South Block to a newly constructed complex named ‘Seva Teerth’ at Kartavya Path on Friday, in a major administrative transition.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Seva Teerth complex along with Kartavya Bhavan-1 and Kartavya Bhavan-2, marking what officials describe as a transformative milestone in India’s governance architecture.
Seva Teerth will house the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat, bringing key decision-making institutions under one modern, integrated complex. Meanwhile, Kartavya Bhavan-1 and 2 will accommodate several major ministries, including Finance, Defence, Health & Family Welfare, and Education.
According to officials, the Prime Minister will first unveil the name ‘Seva Teerth’ at around 1:30 p.m., followed by the formal inauguration of the new buildings. He is also scheduled to address a public programme at the complex later in the evening.
The relocation reflects the government’s broader vision of creating a modern, efficient and citizen-centric administrative ecosystem. The new complexes are equipped with digitally integrated offices, structured public interface systems and collaborative workspaces aimed at enhancing efficiency, coordination and public engagement. Officials say the infrastructure has been designed to improve seamless governance while promoting employee well-being.
Built in accordance with 4-Star GRIHA standards, the complexes incorporate renewable energy systems, water conservation mechanisms, advanced waste management solutions and high-performance building envelopes to reduce environmental impact. Authorities state that these sustainability measures significantly enhance operational efficiency while lowering the carbon footprint.
Security and safety have also been prioritised. The complexes feature smart access control systems, integrated surveillance networks and advanced emergency response infrastructure to ensure a secure yet accessible environment for officials and visitors.
