Protesters marched to Deputy Commissioner’s office, submitted memorandum, and demanded withdrawal of alleged draconian Central laws

Central trade unions and farmers’ organizations on Thursday called for a nationwide Bharat Bandh opposing the new labour codes and the proposed India–USA trade agreement. Ten central trade unions — INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, and UTUC — participated in the strike.

However, the bandh received a muted response in Vijayapura district, with normal life largely unaffected.

Protesters marched on foot from Siddheshwar Temple to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where they submitted a memorandum outlining their demands. During the demonstration, they raised slogans against the Central Government and urged it to withdraw what they termed “draconian laws.”

Despite the nationwide call, public transport services operated as usual from the morning, and shops and commercial establishments functioned without disruption across the district.
