A special Tuesday puja was held with traditional rituals and devotional fervour at the Huligemma Devi Temple in Huligi on Tuesday. Devotees gathered in large numbers from surrounding villages to participate in the sacred rituals and seek the blessings of Huligemma Devi.
According to temple authorities, the special puja is performed every Tuesday and holds great religious significance among devotees. The rituals began early in the morning with abhisheka, followed by alankara seva and special archana. Priests conducted the ceremonies as per age-old traditions, chanting Vedic hymns that added to the spiritual atmosphere.
Devotees offered coconuts, flowers, lemons, and other offerings to the deity, praying for good health, prosperity, and protection from hardships. Many families observed fasting and fulfilled vows as part of their devotion to Huligemma Devi, who is regarded as a powerful village deity and protector.
The temple premises witnessed a steady flow of devotees throughout the day. Arrangements were made to ensure smooth darshan, and volunteers assisted in managing the crowd. Special prasada was distributed to devotees after the completion of the puja.
Local residents said the Tuesday puja at Huligi has deep-rooted cultural importance, with devotees believing that prayers offered on this day are fulfilled by the goddess. “Huligemma Devi is our guardian deity. Performing puja here brings peace and strength,” said a devotee.
The special puja concluded peacefully with mangala aarti in the afternoon. The event once again reflected the strong faith and spiritual bond shared by devotees with Huligemma Devi, reinforcing Huligi village’s significance as an important religious centre in the region.
