Mysuru
The historic Maharaja College Grounds in Mysuru will resonate with devotion and spiritual fervour on February 14, when a grand Mass Hanuman Chalisa Recitation is organised for the welfare of the world.
Announcing the event, His Holiness Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetham called upon devotees across Karnataka to participate in large numbers and be part of the sacred collective prayer.
Addressing a press conference at the Ganapathi Sachchidananda Ashram in Mysuru on Tuesday, the seer shared comprehensive details about the programme, describing it as a spiritual endeavour aimed at peace, harmony, and universal well-being.
A Sacred Gathering of Thousands
The special programme, scheduled for February 14 at the Maharaja College Grounds, is expected to witness the participation of thousands of devotees chanting the Hanuman Chalisa in unison. The Hanuman Chalisa, composed by the great poet-saint Tulsidas, is one of the most sacred hymns, encapsulating the essence of the Sundara Kanda and the entire Ramayana in a simple yet powerful form. A similar event held earlier at Tenali and nearly two lakh devotees had participated, creating a world record and demonstrating the immense spiritual strength of collective devotion.
Describing Hanuman Chalisa as a hymn accessible to all, Swamiji said it can be recited by people of all ages. Lord Hanuman is the eternal protector who stands by devotees during times of difficulty. This mass prayer has been organised with the intention of global welfare and the well-being of humanity. The programme gains further importance as it precedes the auspicious festival of Shivaratri. Lord Hanuman is an embodiment of Lord Shiva and the most devoted servant of Lord Rama. Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa during this sacred period, he said, yields manifold spiritual benefits.
The Power of Collective Prayer
Highlighting the strength of collective prayer, Swamiji said prayers offered together are far more powerful than individual efforts. Referring to puranic lore, he explained that before the incarnation of Lord Rama, 33 crore deities prayed together, following which the Lord appeared and assured the destruction of Ravana. In a similar way, when lakhs of devotees chant the Hanuman Chalisa together, each participant receives the spiritual merit of the complete recitation.
“Karnataka is the land of Hanuman. Devotees from across the state should take part in this sacred programme and receive the blessings of Lord Hanuman,” Swamiji appealed. He added that he would personally be present, chanting along with the devotees. “May Hanuman’s divine protection be upon everyone,” he blessed.
The seer reiterated that when people come together in devotion, the spiritual fruits of individual prayers are shared by all, making collective worship uniquely powerful.
Explaining the choice of February 14, he said the date marks the auspicious day of the divine union of Sita and Rama, making it especially significant for organising the Hanuman Chalisa Mahayajna. Prasada will be distributed to all devotees on the occasion. Several organisations from Mysuru have joined hands to support the event, ensuring its smooth conduct and grand success.
