Congress candidate for the West Graduates Constituency Limbikai on Monday stated that his candidature was finalised only after the party collected opinions from various leaders and stakeholders. Addressing party workers and supporters in the city, Limbikai asserted that the decision reflected the democratic functioning and internal consultation process of the Congress party.

Speaking to the media, Limbikai said the party leadership held discussions at multiple levels before announcing his name as the candidate. The Congress party sought opinions from senior leaders, grassroots workers, and representatives connected to the graduates’ constituency. Only after evaluating these views was the ticket given to me, he said. He added that this process strengthened his responsibility towards the party and the voters.

Limbikai, who is contesting as a candidate of the Indian National Congress, expressed confidence that the party’s ideology and developmental agenda would receive strong support from graduates. He said the graduates’ constituency has a large number of educated voters who understand issues related to employment, education, governance, and social justice. Graduates are aware and thoughtful voters. I will raise their concerns effectively if elected, he said.

The Congress candidate said his campaign would focus on issues such as better employment opportunities for educated youth, strengthening higher education institutions, transparency in governance, and protecting democratic values. He also emphasized the need to address challenges faced by teachers, professionals, and self-employed graduates. According to him, these sections play a vital role in shaping society and policy.

Limbikai thanked party workers for their support and urged them to work collectively to ensure victory. He said unity within the party would be the key factor in the election. The Congress has always believed in inclusive politics. When everyone works together, success is certain, he remarked.

Reacting to questions about opposition candidates, Limbikai said he was not interested in personal attacks and would instead focus on presenting constructive ideas to voters. This election should be about issues, not individuals. I am confident that people will choose a candidate who listens to them and represents their aspirations, he said.

Senior Congress leaders present at the meeting expressed confidence in Limbikai’s leadership and experience. They said his selection was based on his public service record and acceptance among party workers. Leaders appealed to graduates across the constituency to support the Congress candidate for a stronger and more accountable representation.
