According to preliminary information, the traffic policeman was regulating vehicle movement near the central bus stand, an area that frequently witnesses heavy congestion due to buses, autos, and private vehicles. During this time, the driver of a car reportedly violated traffic rules and ignored instructions to move the vehicle in an orderly manner. When the constable questioned him and asked for compliance, the driver allegedly lost his temper.
Eyewitnesses said the driver began arguing loudly with the policeman, using abusive language and refusing to cooperate. The situation quickly escalated as the driver allegedly attempted to physically attack the traffic constable, forcing nearby personnel and members of the public to intervene. The timely response of other traffic staff prevented the situation from turning more serious.

Police sources said appropriate legal action would be initiated against the driver for obstructing a public servant from discharging duty and attempting to assault an on-duty police official.
