Kuala Lumpur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday interacted with four prominent industry leaders from Malaysia, welcoming the growing momentum in business-to-business (B2B) engagement between the two countries and underlining the strong interest of Malaysian companies in India’s growth story. The interaction took place amid a broader push to deepen economic cooperation and attract foreign investment into key sectors of the Indian economy.

According to an official statement, the Prime Minister encouraged Malaysian businesses to explore opportunities in India, particularly in infrastructure development, renewable energy, digital technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and healthcare. He highlighted India’s expanding market size, innovation ecosystem, and long-term growth potential as major attractions for global investors.

PM Modi met senior leaders from some of Malaysia’s most influential corporate groups, including PETRONAS President and Group CEO Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, Berjaya Corporation Berhad Founder Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, Khazanah Nasional Berhad Managing Director Dato’ Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, and Phison Electronics Founder Dato Pua Khein Seng. The discussions focused on expanding investment portfolios, enhancing technology collaboration, and exploring joint ventures with Indian partners.

The Prime Minister also outlined the reforms and initiatives undertaken in recent years to improve the ease of doing business in India. He emphasised that policy stability, regulatory transparency, and a predictable business environment have been central to India’s efforts to attract long-term foreign investment and promote sustainable economic growth.

PM Modi commended the successful convening of the 10th India–Malaysia CEO Forum in Kuala Lumpur, expressing confidence that the forum’s deliberations would translate into deeper trade and investment ties. Industry leaders, in turn, appreciated the reforms undertaken by the Government of India as part of its vision of a Viksit Bharat and conveyed strong confidence in India’s economic trajectory.

They also expressed keen interest in expanding their business presence in India through fresh investments and collaborative ventures. Earlier, PM Modi and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim jointly condemned terrorism in all its forms, calling for zero tolerance and sustained international cooperation.
