State Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority Vice President S.R. Patil urged officials to ensure that benefits of the government’s five guarantee schemes reach even the most marginalized people in society. He spoke while chairing a district-level progress review meeting at the Zilla Panchayat Hall in Gadag on Thursday.
Patil said the schemes are designed to make poor families financially stronger and help them live with dignity and self-reliance. He stressed that strict steps must be taken to prevent misuse and to make sure only eligible people receive support.
Reviewing the Griha Lakshmi scheme, he said over 1.23 crore women across the state are receiving financial assistance. Officials were told to recover funds wrongly deposited in the accounts of deceased beneficiaries and return them to the government.
Patil also called for better cleanliness, seating, rest rooms, and toilets at bus stands for the comfort of passengers, especially women. He directed that information boards about the guarantee schemes be displayed at ration shops and other public places.
A district-level beneficiaries’ conference will be held on February 18, and officials were instructed to organize it in a grand and orderly manner. Separate stalls for each scheme, proper stage arrangements, invitations, and food facilities must be planned according to protocol, he said.
District officials shared progress data, including thousands of beneficiaries under Griha Jyothi, Shakti travel benefits for women, Yuvanidhi payments to youth, and Annabhagya food grain distribution. Patil told officers that serving people with honesty and dedication is the true spirit of public service. He urged departments to work together so that no eligible family is left out of these welfare programmes across district.
