VIJAYAPURA
Gangadhar S. Sambanni assumed charge as the Chairman of the Vijayapura Urban Development Authority in a simple ceremony held at the VUDA office. The outgoing chairman, Kannan Mushrif, formally handed over responsibilities and wished him success in his new role.
Several political leaders and well-wishers attended the event and extended their greetings to the new chairman. Among those present were Legislative Council Member Sunilagouda Patil, MLA Vitthal Katakadond, Bal Vikas Academy President Sangamesh Babaleshwar, former MLA Prof. Raju Alagur, senior leader Abdul Hameed Mushrif, and Dr. Mahantesh Biradar, close secretary to Minister M.B. Patil. Dr. Sambanni was welcomed with garlands and sweets.
Dr. Sambanni is an Ayurveda medical graduate and has been active in public life since his student days. He took part in student movements and protests during 1993–94 and served as joint secretary of the city unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. In 1999, he joined the Congress party and worked closely with youth leader Sunilagouda B. Patil.
Over the last 27 years, he has served the party in various roles, including the Youth Congress Committee and District Congress Seva Dal. He is currently Vice President of the District Congress Committee.
Party leaders met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru seeking Sambanni’s appointment.
