A Bhoomi Puja ceremony was held for a public drinking water lake in Kadadi village of Hombala zone under the Dharmasthala Gramabhiruddhi Yojana. The work is part of the 2025–26 “Nammur Namma Kere” program aimed at restoring lakes and improving water sources in rural areas.
District Director of the Rural Development Project, Keshav Devanga, spoke about the importance of the initiative. He explained that the project focuses on water conservation, village development, and community participation. He requested the lake committee members and villagers to cooperate with workers during the construction process and to help maintain cleanliness around the lake.
Village elder Veerupakshappa praised the Dharmasthala project and expressed gratitude to the Heggade couple for taking up such social service. He said that the village would fully support the lake development work.
Lake Committee President Rudrappa Garawada said it was a proud moment for the village to receive the project. He added that he would serve honestly and without personal expectations. Vice President Shivananda Maragol said participating in this service was a blessing and urged everyone to work together without political or social differences.
Koppal Regional Lake Engineer Satish, Taluk Field Planning Officer Uma, Agriculture Supervisor Kiran Mahendrakar, and Zonal Supervisor Mallikarjuna Gowdru were present. Panchayat President Kavita Konimani, Union President Annapurna Naik, village elders, Gram Panchayat members, Lake Committee members, self-help group members, and many villagers also attended the program.
The ceremony marked the beginning of efforts to improve water storage and ensure safe drinking water for the people of Kadadi. Villagers expressed hope that the revived lake would support agriculture, livestock, and daily needs while strengthening unity and shared responsibility.
