Vastrad directed schools, colleges, polling areas, and offices to actively inform citizens about voter list revision, register associations on the ELC website, and upload awareness programs for transparency
Chitradurga
State SWEEP Nodal Officer P.S. Vastrad emphasized the need to create awareness among voters ahead of the comprehensive revision of electoral rolls (SIR) during a district-level SWEEP Committee meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat Hall on Wednesday.
Presiding over the meeting, Vastrad directed that schools and colleges, through Voter Literacy Associations (ELC), polling booth areas via Election Awareness Associations (VAC), and offices through Voter Awareness Forums (VAF), should actively inform citizens about the voter list revision process. He added that all voter literacy association details must be registered on the ELC website, and every awareness program should be uploaded for transparency and tracking.
The meeting highlighted the importance of engaging citizens to ensure accurate and updated voter information, which will strengthen the democratic process and encourage broader participation in upcoming elections.
Additional Deputy Commissioner B.T. Kumaraswamy, Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Dr. Rangaswamy, Sub-Divisional Officer Venkatesh Naik, Tahsildar B.M. Govindaraj, Deputy Director of School Education M.R. Manjunath, Election Tahsildar Bibi Fatima, Shirastedar Mallikarjun Nayak, and other district-level SWEEP committee officials attended the meeting.
The SWEEP initiative aims to ensure comprehensive voter education, enhance participation, and maintain accuracy in voter lists, particularly among first-time and underrepresented voters.
