MoU signed for survey of roadside avenue trees

Mysuru:

Under the title “My Mara” (My Tree), an MoU was signed on Wednesday to conduct a survey of roadside avenue trees within the limits of the Mysuru City Corporation.

The Memorandum of Understanding was entered into by the Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL), Anand Nagar, Mangaluru, in collaboration with the Mysuru Palace Board, the District Administration, Mysuru District, and the Mysuru City Corporation.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikantha Reddy, Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, Maharani Trishika Kumari Devi, representatives of the CFAL organisation, and officials of the Horticulture Department of the Mysuru City Corporation.

Permission has been granted by the Mysuru City Corporation to CFAL to conduct the survey, and the work has already commenced across the city. The survey is being carried out by trained volunteers and students, who will compile and submit a detailed report to the Corporation.

The report will include GPS-based geo-coordinates of each tree, along with information on tree species, trunk girth, and estimated height. The findings of this survey will provide comprehensive data on roadside trees within the Mysuru City Corporation limits and will be useful in making informed decisions regarding road widening and other developmental works within the Corporation’s jurisdiction.

The public is requested to extend their cooperation when volunteers and students conduct the survey across the city.
