Chittapur hospital faces demand for medicine center

Intro

The group raised concern that the medicine center closes at night, leaving accident victims and seriously ill patients without timely medicines

CHITTAPUR

Residents and members of a local welfare group have urged authorities to improve basic services at the government public hospital in Chittapur town, especially during night hours.

In a petition submitted to Administrative Medical Officer Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rahim, the Taluk Multipurpose Welfare Development Association for the Physically and Mentally Handicapped highlighted key problems.

Group president Muhammad Ibrahim said the hospital does not clearly display the names of doctors and medical staff who are on duty in day and night shifts.

He explained that when details of duty staff are missing, patients and their relatives find it hard to know whom to approach in an emergency. Clear information on nameboards would make communication easier and build trust among visitors.

The group also raised concern about the medicine distribution center, which currently remains closed during the night. According to them, accident victims and seriously ill patients often arrive after dark and struggle to get required medicines on time.

They said families are forced to search for private medical shops late at night, causing delay in treatment and extra financial burden on poor households. Keeping the medicine center open round the clock would reduce stress and save valuable time.

Responding to the appeal, Dr. Rahim said a nameboard listing doctors on duty has already been installed at the hospital. He assured that the remaining demands would be examined and steps taken as per rules.

Several members of the association, including Ravindra Telkar, Ambadas Taylor, Mahebub Taylor, Mogalappa Kumbara, Ramu Rathod and Chandrashekar Kashi, were present while submitting the petition and expressed hope for quick action. Residents want faster action from authorities.
