Zameer praised H.D. Devegowda as his mentor, wished him well, and criticized regional parties for losing influence with BJP

Minister Zameer Ahmed made a sharp comment on former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s statement about aiming for the 2028 Chief Minister post, saying, “Everyone dreams at night, Kumaraswamy dreams during the day.”
Speaking to reporters in Davangere, Zameer reminded that Kumaraswamy did not claim to be CM in 2013, 2019, or 2023. He pointed out that when Siddaramaiah was part of the JDS, the party won 59 seats, which Kumaraswamy could not match. In the 2023 elections, JDS managed only 19 seats, and Zameer accused Kumaraswamy of merely daydreaming about becoming the state’s Chief Minister in the future.
Zameer also expressed respect for H.D. Devegowda, calling him his political mentor and wishing him a long and healthy life. However, he criticized regional parties for losing influence after aligning with the BJP and questioned what would happen if they continue to support the party.
On another note, Zameer spoke about the upcoming by-election in the South Assembly constituency. He said that after Shamanur Shivashankarappa, minority candidates would be considered for tickets. He added that a demand for minority representation exists and that he would submit a report to the party high command. Decisions on candidate selection will ultimately rest with the party leadership, he clarified.
The minister’s remarks highlight the ongoing political debate in Karnataka and underline the Congress leadership’s focus on strengthening representation for minority communities while questioning the credibility of opponents’ claims. His statements reflect both political strategy and a critique of rival party ambitions, keeping voters and party workers engaged in the discussion ahead of future elections.
