Republic Day was celebrated with pride and colour across Vijayapura district on Monday, with major events held at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar District Stadium and other government offices.
District In-charge Minister M.B. Patil hoisted the national flag at the stadium, received the salute, and inspected the parade in an open vehicle. Addressing the gathering, he spoke about development, youth employment, and the importance of constitutional values. A grand parade featuring police units, home guards, fire personnel, forest staff, NCC cadets, scouts, guides, and school students impressed the audience. Cultural unity and discipline were reflected in the well-coordinated march past.
Several public representatives, senior officials, and citizens attended the ceremony. Later, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Anand K. hoisted the flag at Gandhi Bhavan and urged officers to work in line with the spirit of the Constitution and serve people with responsibility.
As part of the announcements, the Minister said a large job fair will be held on February 2 at Darbar Group Educational Institution grounds. More than 150 companies are expected to participate, offering opportunities to youth with SSLC, PUC, ITI, diploma, degree, and engineering qualifications. Appointment letters may be issued on the spot for selected candidates.
Republic Day was also observed at the Zilla Panchayat office, where CEO Rishi Anand hoisted the flag. He reminded staff that true patriotism lies in honest public service, transparency, and commitment to equality and justice.
Across the district, the celebrations highlighted unity, duty, and hope for progress. Officials said such events strengthen democratic values and inspire young citizens to take part in nation building with discipline, respect, and a shared sense of responsibility for all.
