Sri Siddhartha Engineering College marked the 77th Republic Day with pride and purpose at its campus on Kunigal Road. The celebration was held at the Dr. H. M. Gagadharaiah Circle, where Principal Dr. M. A. A. Nadakatti paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar before hoisting the national flag.
Addressing students and staff, the Principal said India has completed 77 years as a republic and now stands at an important stage in its development journey. He noted that the country faces many complex challenges, but these also create big opportunities for engineers and technicians to show their talent and responsibility.
He stressed the need for reliable power supply to support a fast-growing nation. He also spoke about saving water, using it wisely, and protecting the environment through sustainable solutions. Technology, he said, must help make healthcare more affordable and reachable for common people.
Dr. Nadakatti highlighted the importance of modern tools and technology in agriculture to improve productivity. He also underlined the need to protect India’s fast-growing digital systems from security threats.
Calling for better cities, he said engineers must design places that are safe, green, less crowded and inclusive for all sections of society. He urged young engineers to develop a broad outlook while building digital systems that are innovative, accessible and secure.
Several faculty members and officials, including deans, principals of other institutions, NCC and NSS officers, department heads, and students, took part in the celebration, making the Republic Day event meaningful and inspiring for everyone present. The event ended with a renewed sense of duty among aspiring engineers and faculty.
