KAMPLI
A young child was seriously injured after being attacked by a group of stray dogs while playing near her home in the Harijanakeri area of Kampli, officials said.
The child, identified as C.S. Akshata, suffered severe bites to her ears, lips, and other parts of her body. She was initially taken to the town’s community health center, but due to the seriousness of her injuries, she was transferred to BIMS Hospital in Bellary, where doctors stitched her wounds. She remains under treatment and has not yet fully recovered.
Akshata’s grandfather, C.S. Virupakshi, expressed deep distress over the incident, saying the family is struggling to pay for the medical expenses. He urged the government to provide immediate assistance and compensation for the child’s care.
Residents of the area say stray dog attacks are a growing problem in the town. Several children have been bitten in the past, and locals are frustrated that municipal authorities have taken little action to manage the stray dog population.
Community members, including C.S. Chennaiah, called for urgent steps to prevent further attacks and ensure children can play safely. Officials have yet to announce any measures to address the stray dog menace in Kampli.
The incident has sparked widespread concern among parents and local residents, highlighting the urgent need for stronger municipal intervention.
