CHIKKABALLAPUR

The Labour Department has launched a special registration drive for unorganized workers in the district under the Pradhan Mantri Shramyogi Maan-Dhan (PMSYM) Pension Scheme. The drive, running from January 15 to March 15, aims to provide social security and financial support to workers in the unorganized sector.

Eligible participants include home-based workers, street vendors, domestic workers, hot meal preparers, porters, brick kiln workers, shoemakers, rag pickers, weavers, rickshaw pullers, landless laborers, mechanics, fishermen, agricultural and construction workers, beedi and handloom workers, leather workers, blacksmiths, tailors, audiovisual workers, and NREGA workers.

Under the scheme, the Central Government contributes to the pension account alongside the subscriber. Beneficiaries will receive a guaranteed minimum monthly pension of Rs. 3,000 after turning 60. Workers must be between 18 and 40 years old, earn up to Rs. 15,000 per month, and not be covered under ESI, PF, or NPS. They should also have a bank account and Aadhaar number.

Workers can register at the nearest Common Service Center by submitting their initial contribution, Aadhaar card, bank details, nominee information, and a mobile number.

District Labour Officer Shabana Azmi urged all eligible unorganized workers to take advantage of this scheme and secure financial stability for their future. The drive is expected to benefit thousands of workers in the district and strengthen social security coverage for the unorganized sector.
