Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of conspiring to weaken the federal system by convening a special session of the state legislature to oppose the VB-G RAM G Act passed by the NDA government at the Centre. He alleged that the move was driven more by political vendetta than public interest.
Speaking to reporters at the airport on Friday, Vijayendra said Siddaramaiah frequently speaks about protecting the Constitution, but his actions contradict those claims. According to him, the special session was used to attack the Centre and undermine the spirit of federalism. He asserted that the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, which replaces MGNREGS, is aimed at benefiting the poor and workers, and opposing it amounts to misleading the public.
Vijayendra criticised the Congress government for misusing the sanctity of the legislature to incite people against the Union government. He said the Siddaramaiah-led government has nearly completed three years in office and should focus on the welfare of the state instead of indulging in confrontational politics. The BJP leader accused the chief minister of ignoring Karnataka’s interests while consistently attacking the Centre.
He further claimed that Siddaramaiah was employing “Chanakya-style tactics” by using the special session to counter internal political challenges, particularly to prevent Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s alleged ambitions to become chief minister. Vijayendra urged Siddaramaiah to highlight his government’s achievements and welfare programmes rather than running campaigns against the Centre.
