KOLAR
A shocking incident shook Bangarpet near Kolar on Friday when a married man stabbed a married woman to death with a keyhole knife after she refused to marry him. The victim, 28-year-old Sujatha from Dasara Hosahalli village, was attacked near the Zig Zag Road while waiting for her company vehicle to go to work in the Narasapura Industrial Area.
The accused, 27-year-old Chiranjeevi from Yelaburgi village, had met Sujatha while collecting money for his finance company job in Hosakot. Over time, the two developed a romantic relationship, despite both being married and having children. Sujatha had been living separately from her husband. Reports indicate that Chiranjeevi hid his marital status from Sujatha for two years. When she proposed marriage, he rejected her upon revealing the truth, demanding the return of money he had given her, which led to a heated argument.
As the fight escalated, the accused stabbed Sujatha in the neck with a keyhole knife. Locals rushed to the scene, restrained him, and administered a beating before police arrived. The Kolar city police have since arrested Chiranjeevi and are investigating the case further.
District Superintendent of Police Kannika Sikriwal visited the site and confirmed that a love affair had turned fatal. “This is a tragic case of a personal dispute that escalated into violence. The accused has been taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing,” she said.
Police urged residents to report disputes early to prevent similar tragedies and emphasized that such acts of violence will be prosecuted to the fullest under the law. The community remains in shock over the brutal killing, mourning the loss of Sujatha while awaiting justice in this tragic case.
