No More Road Rush: Skywalk from Metro to ITPB Opens Today

The link offers a faster, safer route to work, eliminating the need to cross the congested service road near the station.

Nearly 50,000 tech professionals in Bengaluru’s Whitefield corridor will benefit daily with the launch of a new skywalk connecting Pattandur Agrahara Metro station to the International Tech Park Bengaluru (ITPB) campus on Friday. ITPB, home to around 140 tech companies, sees a footfall of 60,000–70,000 people daily.

The skywalk, developed under a public-private partnership between CapitaLand and BMRCL, also links to Park Square Mall adjacent to the campus, providing a safer and faster commuting option and encouraging metro usage. CapitaLand funded the entire construction and paid BMRCL a connectivity fee, while the metro agency approved the design and permissions, a BMRCL spokesperson said.

Employees welcomed the development. “It’s the company’s responsibility to ensure a safe commute, and this skywalk achieves exactly that,” said Harish Naik, an ITPB employee. “During peak hours, the service road is clogged with vehicles, making it unsafe for pedestrians. I work night shifts, and crossing the road was always risky.”

KV Pallavi, commuting from RR Nagar, said the skywalk will save at least 10 minutes of walking and remove the danger of navigating chaotic traffic. “The metro exit is just 100 metres from the tech park, but crossing that stretch was a nightmare. This direct connection, also passing through the mall, is a game-changer,” she added.

D Balaji, a bus commuter, said, “Traffic is so bad that even a small mistake could cause serious accidents. The zebra crossing lacks signals, and employees relying on buses face the most risk. The skywalk will significantly reduce travel time and improve safety.”

The new structure marks a major improvement in Bengaluru’s last-mile connectivity, making commutes safer, faster, and more convenient for thousands of tech workers in the city’s IT corridor.
