As part of the initiative to convert wet waste generated within wards into compost, a sale of organic fertilizer was organised on Tuesday under the leadership of North City Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar at the wet-waste composting unit located in Ward No. 18, Radhakrishna Temple area, under the Hebbal Division.
At the composting unit in Dollar’s Colony, Ward No. 18, approximately 300 kg of compost suitable for plants and trees was sold. The price was fixed at Rs 150 per kg. During the campaign, the entire 300 kg of organic fertilizer was purchased, generating a total revenue of Rs 45,000.
The objective of this initiative is to process city waste within the respective wards and to encourage household-level composting, thereby reducing the overall volume of waste. A dedicated team of City Corporation staff works daily toward this goal, and Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar urged the public to actively support and participate in these efforts.
The programme was attended by Zone 2 Joint Commissioner Pallavi, General Manager and Deputy General Managers of the Bengaluru Solid Waste Management , Junior Health Inspector of Ward No. 18, Pourakarmikas and supervisors, and link workers, who actively participated in the campaign.
