Campus placements in Bengaluru have crossed the halfway stage, with artificial intelligence and cybersecurity emerging as the most in-demand skills among recruiters. These two areas together account for nearly 40 percent of total campus hires this year, reflecting a major shift in industry needs and student preferences.
Colleges report that demand for AI-related roles has increased by almost 50 percent compared to last year. As a result, many institutions have decided to make AI fundamentals mandatory for students from the 2025 batch onward. Specialised courses and tracks in cybersecurity are also being introduced to prepare students for growing digital threats.
Recruiters are not only hiring final-year students but are also offering internships to juniors. Many of these internships are later converted into pre-placement offers, giving students early career security. Along with AI and cybersecurity, companies are actively recruiting for cloud computing, data science, product development, and software roles. IT and software firms continue to dominate campus drives.
At RV College of Engineering, officials said there is strong demand for cyber resilience and AI professionals. Nearly 30 to 40 percent of placements there are in AI and cybersecurity roles. PES University has already placed around 850 students, mostly in AI and computer science-related positions.
UVCE reported stable placement trends over the past three years, with AI and cybersecurity forming a significant share of jobs, while core sector roles remain relevant. Ramaiah Institute of Technology also recorded a 50 percent rise in AI and cybersecurity hiring compared to last year.
Experts say cyber safety and AI skills require continuous cooperation between colleges, industry, and research centres. The growing trend shows that future jobs will depend heavily on advanced technology skills.
